Seattle Freeze vs. liberal attitudes towards pot

The Seattle Freeze keeps people from becoming friends. Pot culture requires trust and friendship to provide a supportive enviroment. How in the world did Seattle get this kind of a supportive community here? Or is it just newcomers who have this problem?

Not a weird question at all. Seattle's a wonderful city, but some say it has only a patina of politeness, a facade of openness and generosity toward newcomers. I don't know about that.

When I arrived in '94, I found that, like any other city, there are Seattleites who are naturally outgoing and welcoming, others who prefer to keep to themselves. I'm guessing when it comes to the question of pot, you'll find a lot of people who use it and don't feel a need or have a desire to talk about it. Perhaps because they're worried or cautious about who they're talking to?

Others? Can't shut 'em up. They'll happily start or join a conversation about the legal, botanical, technological, social, political, and economic issues that attend the subject.

I have faith you'll land some new friends who share your interests, as well as your level of comfort in the ongoing, multi-dimensional conversation about pot. Meanwhile, I hope you'll do what you can to support the legalization, regulation, and normalization of cannabis.

    All the best.

Newcomers aren't the only ones who have been frozen out socially by some clicks in Seattle. This area tends to be more secular, and less connected socially through churches. Seattle residents tend to be more educated, skilled, and uptight about political correctness.

I moved here in 1979, and love Seattle and it's people. I'm not going to flounce out of here with critical articles like my ex-friend Michelle Malkin did (and was fired by the Seattle Times for it).
(She stopped coming to our televised libertarian supper club after I said we shouldn't focus on Bill Clinton's sex life. Since then she has drifted back toward Catholicism but this was not my fault.)

What kind of support are you looking for? If you just want to grow some herb, you may purchase a small amount of seeds from Holland with relative safety.

I recommend starting with a 3K 150-watt CMH (ceramic metal halide). This will do well in all stages of growth. You may purchase additional units as your plants get bigger. Then grow with hydroponics or Coco. You may view my website for more info:

If you want to share pot with friends, I wouldn't make that the first approach. Try to find common interests and values by joining special interest groups, whether political, recreational, or cultural.
