  0 0 I'm incredibly late on this bandwagon. However the mold on bread uses a type of photosynthesis to break the complex carbs down. So place it in a cabinet or purchase a bread box and it will more than double the life of the food. Other than that your fine :) We humans have durable guts when it comes to molds, it's those pesky bacteria like Ecoli that are killers.   7 0 Speaking as someone who works with mold a lot: You're fine. Common bread molds are pretty much harmless and only an issue because of the way they make bread taste, which is not so great. These are considered spoilage organisms. Rarely, you could run into something that's not so great for you, but bread mold in particular is unlikely to put you down. And yes, the mold tasted awful. I realized that if slightly spoiled bread was somehow able to mutate into toxic death mold, they would probably mention that on the label. Also, if you want to avoid this happening in the future you may want to consider keeping your bread in the fridge, if you don't do so already. Particularly if you like to buy freshly baked bread. I know some people don't like their bread cold or whatever but it does increase the life expectancy by a good amount.   3 0 It depends on the bread mold; some are harmless, some are indigestible and can make you nauseous, some are poisonous and can make you very ill or kill you. And some can make you trip (ergot derivatives). Trouble is, where there is one bread mold, there are likely others, and all fungi exist mostly below the surface - picking off the visible (fruiting) bodies doesn't remove the mold. Chances are, if you ingested only a few bites of mold, you'll be fine. You might be a little queasy, but it's hard to say how much of that is psychosomatic. It's unlikely there was enough mold on the bread to make you seriously unwell. People hard up for food have eaten large quantities of moldy bread without serious ill effects.   2 0 I've done it more or less as you did. My USWAG is that if you were allergic to penicillin then you might have a problem (the green mold is pennicillium), but barring that you're likely fine. If you have a paper cut, rub your sandwich crust on it.
