Why do people who don't own a TV always tell you about it?

Are we suppose to be impressed?

You're supposed to kind of kiss our feet and realize that we don't have mush for brains. And then we'll feel superior while we watch 30 Rock on Hulu.

98% of the American population owns a T.V. It's a good way for average white people to get into the minority - which is the best thing any white person could ever do.

    I'm basically cribbing this from:

I don't own a t.v. I don't need it, I have internets! Which like stated before me is pretty much a t.v. with a kabillion channels. Mostly porn channels, but a kabillion non the less. I hate watching television. I feel like my brain is being sapped of my thoughts. I don't see anyone researching music, books, events, ect. on their tube either. Most of the time I'm on the net I'm looking for something, which with a t.v. you depend on some corporation that has paid another corporation, to show you what you've been waiting for.
I think another difference is that when you watch t.v., say for an an hour, you're watching about fifteen to twenty minutes of commercials. Granted on nearly every single web page there are advertisements, but there is no in-your-face mind numbing announcer voice telling you to buy this mattress cause right now it's a huge sale and mattress mart for this week only and it's all about sunday sunday sunday!!!!!! I've never encountered someone who that postured themselves by saying "I don't own a t.v." . I don't think I've ever tried starting a conversation that way either.
    :)

I am TIRED of hearing about the Biggest Looser... if I wanted to watch that show, I would tune in. Also, I don't care about American Idol... The idiot magician telling his secrets... the Gong show... Regis and Cathy.... Murray Povich... Dr. Phil... or others...

Well everyone likes to feel important :D

I say the ones who don't own a TV, who are also successful millionaire types, may indeed be doing us a favour - i.e. asking us to follow suit and live up to our true potential - LISTEN TO THESE GUYS!

...then there's the the vast majority of these folk - the cynical ones who judge intelligence on booksmarts, a posh tone of voice, and knowledge of fine art and stuff that not even THEY truly care about, all in a vain attempt to show off their superiority among others. Call it an inferiority complex perhaps.

I think the people who are truly smart and successful are the ones with 'social' intelligence, who have lots going on in their life and therefore no need to bring up such mundane topics as this in the first place.

what else can you say when all people do is talk about tv shows. what other answer is there?
I believe it is the tv watchers (for some reason) feel like they are being thought of as inferior. they feel we are looking down on them. why do tv viewers all feel that everyone should watch tv???????
i feel you are looking down on us just because we dont watch!!!!

Because they want you to feel bad and maybe buy them one or at least invite them over to watch Bones or Desparate Housewives.

Because for some reason they believe they are so rare and special tha it requires explanation Because, SURPRISE...they are like serial killers..they look just like everyone else and the world will not know of their 'specialness'.

In reality? The TRUE non-TV owner will never tell you because they actually haven't had a TV for probably most of their intelligent lives so it frankly isn't an issue.

So non-tv people, you are not all that so you can go sit down now and try to think of something that is worthy of comment.

"Ny name is Francine Fishpaul and I don't own a TV!"

Yah, the anti-TV people are apparently better, more intelligent and WAY more cultured than the peons who actually watch the dredded tube. Of course we are supposed to be impressed and we are also supposed to feel so stupid and small for melting our brains with the TV that we see the light and throw our TVs out as well. I mean, everyone who watches TV is brainwashed don't you know?

If you don't want a TV and you want to live in a cave with no electricity and no running water, well that is fine...just don't pretend like you are a more evolved and intelligent human because of it!
