  1 0 That kind of sucks. I really like and look forward to the crossword puzzle that gets published in The Stranger once a week. I've been doing them for years. I remember about 15 years ago or so they used to be put out by Clark Humphrey. They really are pretty fun I think and they keep me occupied for a bit every week. So I really hope they don't plan on discontinuing it permanently. But I am just one person. Do other people like The Strangers crossword too? I thinks it's better than comics but maybe not I haven't actually checked out the new/additional comics that will be replacing it.   2 2 We know people love the crossword, but it's had a good long run and space in the paper is limited, so we're going to be publishing some additional comics instead for the time being. (The new comics are on p. 72 of today's paper-paper and will be online soon.) If you want ongoing hot Brendan Emmett Quigley x-word action, he publishes three a week (!) at his awesome website. The Stranger's length varies each week to accommodate the content; clearly there's room enough. I suspect, however, this is just another example of 'cost vs. revenue'; presumably The Stranger had to pay BEQ for his x-word, eliminating it saves a bit, and allows space for, god forbid, more ads. Paul Tahi Baker commented about 1 year ago | Report 0 0 Paper size does fluctuate, but in order to remain (semi-) sane, we have set things that run every week, including the page with the horoscope, comics, and Dear Science/Control Tower, where the crossword used to be. We did pay Mr. Quigley for his crossword, and we are paying the artists who do the additional comics that are now running in its stead.
