What are good songs to put on a mix for a wedding to get people dancing?

Making a playlist for a friends wedding and am looking for suggestions to get people up and dancing. Some classics with new stuff mixed in. Mostly fun hip people will be at the wedding so it can't be too cheesy (some cheese is okay, of course :)

Any suggestions on songs, mixes, etc.?

Motown. Everybody knows it, everyone can dance to it. Won't freak out Gramma.

    "Superstition" - Stevie Wonder.

"Take Your Mama", "Filthy/Gorgeous" - Scissor Sisters.

"Jump (For My Love)" - Pointer Sisters.

    "Fine Time" - New Order.

"Heat Wave" - Martha and the Vandellas

"Dancing in the Streets" - Martha Reeves or even the Bowie/Jagger version

    "Super Freak" - Rick James

    "P.Y.T." - MJ

"Canned Heat", "Planet Home" - Jamiroquai

    "New Sensation" - INXS

"Take Me Out", "This Fire" - Franz Ferdinand

"E-Pro", "Que Onda Guero" - Beck

"It's Your Thing" - the Isley Brothers

Some of these may be cliched, but they'd get me dancing, and I don't dance.

My wife and I snuck a bunch of United State of Electronica (the first album) into our wedding playlist. All her relatives in Omaha had fun with it.

I favor bluesy music with a good beat for flexible dancing (supporting both people who know how to dance and people who free-form).

    "Ain't Superstitious" is a classic.
    "Walk this Way" (Aerosmith)
"Love Shack" (B-52s) for when people are a bit drunk

For a touch of irony, how about "Single Ladies"? I wouldn't play it first but it might be a fun part of the mix.

Don't Stop Believing by Journey. Winds of Change by Scorpions. Sexy Back by Justin Timberlake. Move Your Feet by Junior Senior. Virtually anything by Panjabi MC. Crazy by Gnarls Barkley. Songs from Grease. Ice Ice Baby by Vanilla Ice (for later in the night when people get really drunk).

This might be for when everyone is already drunk, but I was at a wedding and the DJ played Apache (Jump On It)by the Sugar Hill gang, and it brought out the most hilarious, worst dancing that I have ever seen.

"twist & shout" - the go-to vanilla dj dance song for vanilla weddings.

Also a go-to for the 40 and under set (thematically related to a wedding too) :

    "Lovefool" - (cardigans?)

on the other hand, if want to be remembered for your mix, you could go with
"dance motherfucker dance" - violent femmes

OOOOOOh!! "In the Mood for Dancing" by the Nolans should totally get the party going. I also stand firm by "Mad About You" by Belinda Carlisle!
