apple. bite in and hold it. Then eat. Also: have a few apples per week.

I've been rinsing my mouth with straight 3% hydrogen peroxide for years (don't swallow it, of course), and it totally got rid of the coffee stains, plus it made my regular cleanings much easier.

You may think I'm crazy, but try eating an apple every day. The fiber cleans your teeth, I've read. I drink red wine and coffee and have no stains on my teeth.

careful with those whiteners. they really just strip away the stained layer or enamel, which in the long run weakens your teeth

I asked the dental hygenist about tooth whitening, thinking she could convince me to buy the dentist's services, but no... she said the crest white strip type products work just fine.

I second White Strips. I complained to my hygienist about them hurting my teeth, so he recommended using Sensodyne and rinsing with fluoride for a week before whitening and continuing with it until you're done. It helped with tooth pain, unfortunately it didn't protect my gums, and I had to cut back and only use one strip per day.

They won't make your teeth crazy white, but really bright white teeth look weird on all but a few people.

I've never used a whitener, but Crest 3-D white toothpaste and mouth rinse have made my teeth whiter I think. I don't know what they put in that stuff, but the toothpaste has a GREAT flavor too!

You can buy a bottle of 2% hydrogen peroxide for a couple of bucks, and dilute about a capful at a time in a glass of water to gargle with.

I've had good results with Crest WhiteStrips. I once tried a store-brand imitator that didn't work (well, it might have worked but the whitening solution made me nauseous, so I stopped using it), so I'd recommend shelling out a few extra dollars for the real thing.
