Can I get my cat to stop drooling so much?

I`ve got a very friendly, very affectionate cat that just looooves being picked up and cuddled. Unfortunately, this does not happen as much as he`d like, because whenever he gets petted he starts drooling. I`ve never seen a cat drool this much. He drips like a leaky faucet, and it`s gross. Is there anything that can be done to stop the drool? Or should I keep on petting him only when I`ve got a towel handy?

Well, Fnarf would suggest taxidermy, but I think you're better off with the towel. You could get a shitload of those chamois towels they sell at Costco - a gazillion for 15 bucks - that are super absorbent and just keep 'em on hand for when Kitty wants to gets his love groove on.

You'll find the yellow towels in the automotive section. I use 'em on baby drool, which is even more copious than feline drool.

It's not the solution you're looking for, but it's probably your only real option.

If your kitty is drooling simply because he is in ecstasy, I am sorry to say there is nothing you can do about it. Some cats will drool if they have something painful in their mouth (ie a bad tooth) so make sure that is not the case. I recommend keeping a towel handy!
