What TV show should I watch next?

I've already done some of the obvious - Buffy, BSG, Dexter, Lost, Twin Peaks, Veronica Mars, AD, Six Feet Under, Californication, etc. What TV show have I possibly missed that I should be sure and watch? Thanks!

I am not a football fan and I absolutely love Friday Night Lights. Last Friday's epi made me weep harder than the ending of Six Feet Under. Zack Gilford acted the hell out of that.

I'm going to throw in a vote for Dead Like Me. I loved it, but I love a lot of (honestly, pretty crappy) TV. More importantly, everyone I've pushed it on has loved it. It's a beautiful coming-of-age story that really hits all the right notes- funny, sarcastic, touching with out being saccharine - with good writing and acting. A word of caution: there are two wonderful seasons and a TERRIBLE straight-to-DVD movie. Skip the movie - it practically ruined the series for me.

Also, it's available to Watch Now on Netflix and the entire series is on Hulu. If you don't like the first episode, give it another 2 before you give up. It gets good, but it takes a while to get going.

Hustle, a BBC series about con artists in London. Really classy and well crafted. Each episode is one elaborate heist.

The Wire is excellent and is a completed series.
Mad Men is also excellent but still in progress.
Both have great writing, characters, set/setting design, casting, and acting.

    Others I really enjoyed...

Epitafios is a great Spanish serial killer story set in Argentina (gory but beautiful ala Silence of the Lambs).

Angels in America (more of a mini series but it's wonderful)

I've always been partial to Wiseguy with Ken Wahl.

This was the hit TV series that outed undercover FBI operatives well before "Donny Brasco" hit on the big screen. (Same basic story though... Undercover cop finds it's not so easy working under deep cover to keep your family loving you when you're supposed to be a thug, thief and murderer... how do you keep from breaking the law and killing cops while gathering the evidence to take down "The Family" from the inside.

The 1988 series is out on DVD, and if you shop Big Lotts/Odd Lots you will find the first season arc on DVDs and for only $5.99

That's a great value for the entire pilot and Sonny Steelgrave story arc in the first ten episodes.
(If you can find it, the next arc with Kevin Spacey as Mel Profit is great also, but you'll have to pay for it.)

I agree with almost all of the listing here. I'm assuming that you are watching DVDs because Six Feet Under signed off probably five years ago now. It made an appearance of Bravo (I think it was Bravo), but it was butchered for time and content.

Let me add two things that you might have already seen, but if you haven't, do! Both were on TV.

David Attenbourough's Life. Watch it in high-def if you can. If you can't, it still is astounding.

BBC did a new serial version (in 4 parts) of Little Dorrit that appeared on Masterpiece Theater last season. It's out on DVD and if you like Dickens, I think you'll be very impressed.

Life (Damian Lewis, great script and concept)
West Wing (surely you have done this)
    Dark Angel (silly but fun)
If you liked the Wire try "Homicide; Life on the Street"
Spooks - BBC thing, I think it was called MI5 not 9-5 in the US
The English version of Eleventh Hour
I know that people laugh at me for this, but I love Supernatural.

The TV series True Blood will return in the summer of '11. If you like 6 feet under, you probably like True Blood too. If you' re into twister humor combined with mystery, you may also like Supernatural. Jeremy of TV Reviews

    I can't believe nobody mentioned:

Babylon 5 (if you're interested in this one, get to it soon as the technology is beginning to look dated)

The British spy series 'Spooks', which was called 'MI-5' in the US. You can watch some of it instantly on Netflix or rent the DVDs. I thought it was really good - an interesting mix of action, interesting plots & soap opera plus there were some very cute people in it. The writers had no qualms about killing off major characters so you never really know who's going to make it to the next season.
