Is thermal (receipt) paper recyclable?

I always feel bad throwing out receipts but I've been assuming they're not recyclable. Can you clear this up for me?

    But maybe it shouldn't be:

Apparently the paper contains high concentrations of Bisphenol A, which could be potentially hazardous in products made out of recycled paper intended for daily use, such as toilet paper and paper towels, and could enter the food supply if composted into fertilizer. I'm not a chemist and I have no idea how severe these risks are, but perhaps one of the experts would wish to weigh in on this with whatever knowledge they have about the subject.

Please put receipts in the recycling cart - they are paper.
