Do eyelash curlers work?

I have long eyelashes and was always told I didn't need to wear mascara and could just use an eyelash curler. Maybe I'm using it wrong but it seems like when I try my eyelashes don't stay curled for very long. I even bought a heated eyelash curler from Sephora (it looks like a mascara wand but has a tiny heating element inside it), thinking that would surely help but so far that's been completely useless.

So, has anyone had success with eyelash curlers or do I just need to use mascara with its magical curling chemicals?

    Yes they work. No, it doesn't last long. Couple hours tops with no product.

    Could be your hair is especially thick and straight too.

    instead: Revel in your natural state - if you already have long eyelashes, you're the envy of half the lounge you walk into. Enjoy it, flaunt it.

    I use mascara as a kind of eyelash hairspray. i curl then mascara so it holds its curl. You can use clear mascara so all it does it just hold the curl from the eyelash curler.
