Who cleans up after the parade?

i remember when it was on broadway it seemed it was always a huge mess afterwards. Haven't seen it since it relocated.

Is it volunteers or a specific crew or the city or what?

my understanding is that the city has always cleaned up afterward..not always in a hurry. (some years the street sweepers where right up against the ass end of the parade; other years, well, i didn't see them at all.) i lived on 10th (and Roy)for many years, and the individual apartment house owners on the block could always been seen after the parade, tidying up their own little bit of street and sidewalk. if there are actual clean-up volunteers, i've never seen 'em, nor heard tell.

I always saw city vehicles cleaning it up , and imagined that's part of the reason for the parade permit cost...
