Which of those initiatives should I sign?

So these people keep approaching me with clipboards asking me to sign their initiatives. I'm wary of signing anything without knowing enough about what I'm signing. I figure that I would have exactly the same opinions about these issues as the good people of Questionland, so tell me: which of these initiatives should I sign, and which should I avoid?

I-1098 if you support social services and a more progressive tax structure

I-1068 if you support legalizing Marijuana and saving the state $150 million/year

I believe I-1100 and I-1105 to be flawed ways to privatize alcohol because they would erode the tax base.Do not sign them

Do not sign I-1053 (Eyman's initiative) and I-1082 (BIAW's initiative), and I-1107 (Candy and soda industry initiative)

Also read this, it was in the Stranger last week

Take a stand for representational government and don't sign any of them. The whole initiative process is waste of taxpayer dollars and has done little to improve the lives of Washington citizens.

The only one that makes sense is the pot one. Yet, the seattle police department continued to arrest people long after our initiative to make pot the lowest priority. Pot will still be illegal until federal laws change just like gay marriage is nearly meaningless without federal recognition.

I had a lady approach me about (not) using hooks on elephants, because its animal cruelty.
I didn't want to sign it because I was on my way to the farmers market, I didnt really know what she was talking about and was irritated about how abrupt she was.
When I refused she yelled at me (I had my dog with me) saying "Oh, YOU HAVE A DOG? REALLY YOURE NOT GOING TO SIGN?? I would have figured you to be an animal lover"

    good tactic lady.

Remember, by signing an initiative, all you're doing is getting something on the ballot. If something sounds even remotely appealing to your political sensibilities, go ahead and sign it. Then, investigate more detailed research and analysis when it comes time to actually vote on it.

on the surface only, my ruleOthumb is:

Whichever has a bonafide volunteer gathering signatures.

    1. The mercenaries suck, and in general, I'd like to discourage the TimEyman's of the world to stop their BS as well as the clipboardmafia industries.

    2. Besides, you might look at it this way: Needing paid petitioners suggests that the law proposed isn't a popular enough initiative to stand on its own merits.
(I prefer the kind of initiative that inspires passion rather than pays to fake it)

That said, i-1053 should be used for toilet paper and little else.

I agree with Dan, but I follow a general guideline: Ask the signature collectors if they get paid per signature. If they do, don't sign until you've done your homework. (Some) paid signature gatherers are like (some) sales people. They find what works to get the most signatures--and that includes lying, twisting the intent of the initiative, or "omitting" critical info.

I've also found that I usually disagree with the initiatives where people are paid by signature.

Better to view the statistics on big businesses. The business in itself of putting volunteers out there for Absentee ballot information Most Usually is what you will be blindly signing.
As long as you feel the approach that you want to take has an effect on whichever ballot you do choose participate towards, Be positive that Obamanomics and the territory you feel you have covered are informative enough to not just keep the appeal enlightening but to, too also too help others.

The wheels are in motion already!! Sign all of them!! Anything on the the ballot that people can vote on(think) is good. at least it's there to decide on. All you're signing is the permission for people to decide(think).
