I agree with Dan, but I follow a general guideline: Ask the signature collectors if they get paid per signature. If they do, don't sign until you've done your homework. (Some) paid signature gatherers are like (some) sales people. They find what works to get the most signatures--and that includes lying, twisting the intent of the initiative, or "omitting" critical info.

I've also found that I usually disagree with the initiatives where people are paid by signature.

The wheels are in motion already!! Sign all of them!! Anything on the the ballot that people can vote on(think) is good. at least it's there to decide on. All you're signing is the permission for people to decide(think).

Take a stand for representational government and don't sign any of them. The whole initiative process is waste of taxpayer dollars and has done little to improve the lives of Washington citizens.

The only one that makes sense is the pot one. Yet, the seattle police department continued to arrest people long after our initiative to make pot the lowest priority. Pot will still be illegal until federal laws change just like gay marriage is nearly meaningless without federal recognition.

Remember, by signing an initiative, all you're doing is getting something on the ballot. If something sounds even remotely appealing to your political sensibilities, go ahead and sign it. Then, investigate more detailed research and analysis when it comes time to actually vote on it.

1. The mercenaries suck, and in general, I'd like to discourage the TimEyman's of the world to stop their BS as well as the clipboardmafia industries.

2. Besides, you might look at it this way: Needing paid petitioners suggests that the law proposed isn't a popular enough initiative to stand on its own merits.
(I prefer the kind of initiative that inspires passion rather than pays to fake it)
