I might be able to help...please visit my Etsy shop http://imakecutestuff.etsy.com to see the simple band style rings (I call them "Secret Promise Rings") I make out of sterling silver...with or without a custom sentiment stamped inside. The rings in my shop are 6mm wide, but I can make then wider or thinner too. Two font styles available. Just tell me what you need and I'll do my best to make it happen! :)

Don't know if this is your style, but I've been totally in love with these "fingerprint" rings:

A nice sentimental idea, but cleanly and simply executed. I'm sure you could ask for a custom material as well if you decide to take up suggestions on something other than silver.

So go to a jewelery store that's not in a mall and ask for plain silver rings. They show you some rings, you pick, they measure your fingers, call you in a few days when they're ready, and you pay them. It's very easy.

I don't really know anything about wedding rings, but I've been admiring the jewelry at Fancy (on 2nd Ave in Belltown) for quite some time. Check out this one, which might fit the bill for you: http://www.fancyjewels.com/products/double-minimalist

Turgeon Raine downtown is awesome- great pieces, excellent service. Not cheap, but they do have a range of items and prices.

My husband went to TSI, bought $5 worth of silver bezel, and soldered the pieces round into rings. For both rings, $15. Ten years later, they are a bit scuffed but I couldn't love mine any more. Granted he is handy, has silver solder and a ring mandrel. But this <$1000 like that is affordable is crazytalk.

Greenlake jewelers - they'll make whatever you want.

Or pick up some cheap bands at Pike Place Market.

    Etsy.com too.

Hi, I know you said you wanted silver bands, but this is just in case you decide you want white/yellow gold or tungsten or something. Or for anyone else who reads this-

I got married recently and we wanted very simple bands. We checked out some stores - they were quite expensive. Then we came across http://www.e-weddingbands.com/ Unfortunately for you they don't seem to do silver bands, as far as I can tell on the website. I know, buying jewelry off the internet? But I read a bunch of reviews and we decided they were legit, and everyone said the customer service was great (it was). Besides you don't need someone to "make" a band - a band is a band, as far as I can tell (I could be wrong).

Anyway, we got a yellow gold band (5mm) for me and a white gold band for her (3mm) and they are great. We had them engraved for an extra $7.50. They were less than half the cost of bands at Macy's so I figure they were cheaper than other jewelry stores too. So, anyway, that's my experience. Oh, and no I don't work for them :)

Menashe jewelers in West Seattle is good, they are not too spendy either. My husbo & I got plain, matching tungsten rings for <$1000. (Tungsten doesn't scratch!)

My friends got very plain, simple, titanium bands for their wedding at Greenlake Jewelry Works on Northgate Way. They love 'em.

Pike Place market, Broadway, U district all have shops/smoke shops/small artisan/individual artists willing to sell you a simple and cheap silver band. Pike place has actual metalsmiths/silversmiths that might take your ring and custom size it, too, if you need.

There's also that kooky place just east of Northgate mall that has all those artists/artisans under one roof...
