Can I burn a backup copy of my Snow Leopard Install DVD?

Is there any DRM on the disk that prevents me from burning myself my own (I swear) backup copy of this install disk? I know that there will eventually be a 10.7/.8 etc but for the time being I'd like to have a backup of Snow Leopard. Can I do this? Will there be any problems using it in the future?

There's no DRM standing in the way, and burned installer discs work fine. The data size exceeds 4.2 GB, so you need a dual-layer blank DVD, and a burner which can write to it, but most Macs made in the last few years support DL writing.

You can burn a backup copy of your Snow Leopard Install DVD using Disk Utility with no problems in the future.

    Insert Snow Leopard DVD.
    Launch Disk Utility
    Select DVD in left column
    Click New Image
Name New Image 'Snow Leopard Backup' or whatever you choose.
    Click Save
When finished, do not mount disk image.

    In Disk Utility, Select Burn
Navigate to the Disk Image you created and select and click Burn

You will need a Dual Layer DVD for this process.

Nope, should be good. Apple's not a dick about their OS like Microsoft.

Probably cuz their bread and butter is the hardware, so they don't mind taking a slight piracy hit on the software if it makes the experience easier.

If the DVD does not burn successfully, try the burn again (with a new disk; the previous one is now a coaster) using the slowest speed setting. I've found dual-layer DVD burns on Mac to be pretty temperamental.
