Why would my computer arbitrarily block a website.

2 macs and a pc on the same WPA wifi network at my house. For some reason the ibook g4 won't let me go to publicola.net in Safari or Firefox. The rest of the web is accessible. There are no content filters or firewalls enabled. I've cleared the caches and reloaded but nada. The Macbook and the Viao have no problem.

On the two Macs, go into System Preferences, click Network then click Advanced and check the DNS address on both. If both are the same, click the Proxy tab and see if the affected machine has something unusual in that field. If the DNS differs on the machines, change the affected machines DNS to the working address.

I agree, prolly a DNS issue. If you have ever tried out a service like OpenDNS it can lead to something like this because it has built in content filtering (if you turn it on). Or if you entered special DNS settings for work, your work's DNS server might be blocking you.

Brian's totally right, that's probably the issue. I'd be surprised if it's not.

So, what happens when you try? Does it time out? Give you an error message? If so, what does it say?
