What's the best natural fungicide?

I'm growing vegetables for the first time, and my zucchini appears to have some powdery fungus. I've read that a clove or three of crushed garlic in a gallon of water is a great natural fungicide. Are there any side effects? Do I just mix it up and spray it right on the fungus?

    lime is good. so is water with baking soda, and any fungal spray that contains neem.

    Hi Pumpkin Elf,

    I've tried the crushed garlic in water before. Yes, you just mix it and spray it. It didn't work for me but I know it has worked for other gardeners. It would be worth a try. Another solution,is ground red pepper flakes in water- just don't over do it because it can harm your plant. In all my research, I found no side effects with garlic or red pepper flakes.

    I've never used the garlic cure, but a little milk mixed with water sprayed on the foliage periodically helps keep mold and mildew at bay. You can use milk that's too old to drink. Good luck!

    Powdery mildew is the disease. Lime sulfer is the cure. Or try one of a variety of organic fungacidal soaps available.

    Now that we have some heat, the plant should be able to outgrow the fungus even if you do nothing.

    BTW- try frying up some of those zucchini flowers for a great dish. I use a corn meal batter.
