Just finished Stieg Larssons trilogy

And am looking for a summer read that's comparable. I have already read most works by Grishim, Patterson, and Dan Brown. I'm looking for something published in the last five years that I shouldn't have missed.

Thanks for any help & tips fellow questionlanders!

    Some really stellar recent thrillers that you might enjoy are:

    "Heartsick,": by Chelsea Cain.
    The start of this Portland author's excellent Gretchen Lowell series. I loved that the advance copy of this one arrived in a blood stained evidence bag. (-: Good grisly serial killer thrillers w/ a nice NW vibe.

    "The King of Lies," by John Hart
    Another thriller depicting besmirched Southern lawyers struggling w/ moral challenges? Hart totally gives Grisham a run for his money with this terrific series debut that is unmistakably Southern in its feel, and totally gripping.

    For a good gritty crime thriller, try Marcus Sakey's "The Blade Itself," a well constructed thriller about a guy trying to go straight, and pulled back into the life.

    Have you tried Douglas Preston and Lincoln Child's Pendergrast series, starting w/ "Relic"? Fun exotic adventures with a lot of delightful implausibilities and great atmosphere.

    Michael Gruber's stuff is really good, too - his Jimmy Paz series, starting w/ "Tropic of Night" (crammed w/ interesting cultural stuff - African legends and horrible crimes), and his later standalones, such as "Book of Air and Shadows" - a good literary thriller involving Shakespearean skullduggery - the sort of book that Da Vinci Code wants to be, but isn't, imo. Ditto "Ex Libris" by Ross King, and "The Syracuse Codex," by Jim Nisbet.

    Finally, for pure irresistable action, if you haven't become a part of the legion of Lee Child fans, you've a treat in store.

    Try these:

    "In the Woods" & "The Likeness" by Tana French;

    Dennis Lehane's Patrick Kenzie/Angela Gennaro series;

    Michael Connolly's "The Lincoln Lawyer" & "The Brass Verdict"

    I love everything that has been translated by Natsuo Kirino, the best place to start is probably with "Out".

    For Dan Brownish novels I enjoyed a few titles by Steve Berry:

    The Templar Legacy

    The Romanov Prophecy

    Both are formula pot-boilers but good reads.

    If you are interested in something a little more literary try the WWII spie novels by Alan Furst. My favorites include:

    The Polish Officer
    Red Gold
    Night Soldiers
