Do women find mustaches attractive?

The past few girlfriends I've had have all been against me having a mustache. It had nothing to do with the shape or style or anything, they just found men with mustaches unattractive. Is this the case with most women?

For me it depends both on the man and the mustache. I'd say most men can't pull it off, but a few can.

Tom Selleck = hotter with a mustache
    Brad Pitt = not

It all depends on how well they ride them.

Are you a gunslinger in the Old West? No? Are you over 50 and live in the midwest? No? Then probably a bad idea. Some people can do it, but they can for the same reason some people can pull off spiky purple hair or those tiny round reflective sunglasses. If you are going to grow one of those swirly ones with gold beads on the end that strong-men had in the 30's, then kudos to you. But you'd have to also be a strong-man in a leopard leotard to get laid with that thing on your face. It's an extreme style choice with lots of negative connotations, and in also I second emily's concern about "other liquidy things" and the general frequency of male face cleansing. Feel free to try it between girlfriends though, and see how women react. If you really want one, you may be able to pull it off, if you can't, you will know by other people's reactions.

No to mustaches. Just...no. Personally, I can't stand the thought that food will get caught in there. And it will, at least sauces, drinks, other liquidy things. And then the whole idea of guys sucking the drink/sauce/etc out of their mustaches... *shudder* Of course guys can wash their faces, but how many dudes would wash more than once day?

    (just one lady's opinion)

Being a woman, I do not find mustaches attractive. I am sure there are ladies out there that do, but none that I know of. What makes them unattractive to me is that they can look too hip and unhip at the same time. They look a bit tacky and carry a bit too much irony. I get the ironic mustache, it is funny for a short time, but the ironic mustache doesn't make a man attractive. Mustaches don't have the rugged sexy appeal that beards do.They age the men that have them and look flat out dorky. In my experience, no man has ever grown a mustache and then become more attractive to women.

Yes, some do. Enthusiastically, I might add.

Generally these succeed when combined with other facial hair. The theory being; hair = verile manly-ness.

But mustaches alone, the creepy kind, ala Biggs from Star Wars? Not the best look for most gents.

    - perhaps this is a fashion/style/beauty question too.

I've never seen a solo 'stache I liked, not even on Tom Selleck. Maybe it's because my dad always had a 'stache.

I am a true softie for a well-trimmed goatee though (or the "circle beard," as some call it.)

I would have to agree against a moustache...although a few can pull it off.
Now a goatee, however, is incredibly sexy!!

A mustache by itself is creepy. I do love a good beard though. Just my personal opinion. I'm sure there are ladies out there who wouldn't mind just a mustache but they are probably few and far between.

Give me a 1930's style curly mustache on the right person and I'm all about it. Otherwise I don't find it hot.

Tom Selleck and Sam Elliot are the only men I think look better with mustaches than without.

If you are not Tom Selleck or Sam Elliot and I am dating/married to you, I will FREAK THE FUCK OUT if you come out of the bathroom with a mustache, and not in a good way.

Unless you are Tom Selleck, shave that shame lip NOW. Awful, horrible nasty things.

note: my husband has had a goatee as long as I've known him. If he shaved the bottom part of that I would divorce him immediately or shave him in his sleep. It's irrational, but I just can't stand a mustache (except on TS and SE).
