Where do thieves sell stolen computers?

Someone stole our computer. It's a really good one, and our deductible is too high to make filing a claim worthwhile. I know there's not much chance we'll find it, but if we were going to look, where would we look? Craigslist? Pawn shops? Used computer stores? Theft happened in Seattle.

Thanks, Qlanders!

I would look at all of those places, and possibly e-bay as well. Also, check the Portland craigs list, since they may not be selling it locally.

I agree with craigslist. You can set up RSS feeds on multiple cities around the area. I would be as general as possible when searching on CL (make/model only) to receive the greatest results. Once you have an RSS you can set it to alert your mobile or send you an email to receive notification of new listing matching your search criteria.

If you're unfamiliar of RSS/Craigslist here's info from craig himself. http://www.craigslist.org/about/rss

Hope this helps! Sorry to hear about your loss. :(

Real A: CL, pawn shops, and taxi stands / cigar shops near 3rd and Pike.

ok, this is off topic but computer theif related : this friend of mine had friend (yeah, i know, whatever, i beleive this story) who was housitting in chicago for friends that had this ancient st bernard. during the week, st bernard dies, and housesitter is like "damn, i can't leave a massive dog carcass in their apartment, but i took the train here..." so she shoves it into this big suitcase and drags it down to the L train platform. a guy asks her"whats in there?" bumfuzzled and not wanting to admit to carrying a dead dog, she says "computer parts" as she gets onto the train, she struggles with the heavy bag a little, at which point curious stranger snatches her bag-o-carcass and runs for it. i wonder if he tried to sell those on craigslist....
