I really like the Babeland in-house brand. I like that it's a little thicker than Liquid Silk, so it seems to stay put a little better.

If you are buying to use this stuff with a girl, make sure there is NO GLYCERIN in the lube you buy. (Astroglide, for example, has glycerin in it.) A sure test that some unknown lube has glycerin? When it dries, it's tacky or sticky. Glycerin breaks down to sugar, and yeast (typical vaginal flora) LOVE sugar. Basically, this is a sure recipe for a yeast infection, especially once you add in the additional friction from the condom, nevermind the normal wear and tear of sex. Ick. So remember, say no to glycerin!

My doctor (who literally wrote the book on gay health) recommends Liquid Silk. I even have a Rx script for it from his office.

I'm a fan of Eros Silicone Based Lube.  It's silicone based so it doesn't dry out like KY or other water based lubes, and its also condom safe.  You don't need as much because it stays "wet" so you can control the experience a bit more.

The only downside is that you can't use it with any silicone toys, so you need to be careful in the heat of the moment that you don't accidentally reach for a vibrator.

Myrna commented on the glycerin found in many water-based lubes, and what she says is 100% true. I'll chime in and say to avoid lubes with parabens if you're sensitive, too. They are known for making your vag/butthole burn (!) and are also weak estrogen mimickers, meaning that women who are on chemo and/or hormone replacement therapy should avoid them.

THAT being said, I have used more types of lube than I can count and I second, third, fourth, and fifth Eros Pjur Silicone. No taste! No smell! Stays slick forever! And using silicone lube with a silicone toy is like playing Russian Roulette: sometimes it'll bond to the solid silicone and sometimes it won't. If you're worried about it eating your silicone vibe, dong, or buttplug you can just place a small dab of lube on the base of the toy, leave it overnight, then check in on it in the morning. No sign of harm? Your silicone lube and your silicone toy are compatible!

All good answers (an unadvertised use for margarine, no doubt).

You (& partner) decide which is best, after the rubber's hit the road.

Babeland carries several sample/single use lubes, as well as more economical sizes.

With the help of the knowledgeable staff I picked up a good handful of different ones. Fun to try out, compare, and pick a favorite!

In my quest for the perfect overall lube, I've settled on Gun Oil. It's obviously marketed to gay men, but it works well for ladies too.

It's free of glycerin and therefore completely nonsticky, and a little dab lasts forever. Since you don't have to use as much, you don't have to swim in it for it to work effectively. It also has a bit of aloe and vitamin E- it actually leaves your skin in better condition.

The only hiccup- it's silicone based. See Maxine's excellent advice regarding using it with silicone toys.

I've used H20 and the liquid KY for a while and don't really have any complaints about either.

(uh, the lube H20, not the molecule)
