REALLY big black plastic prescription eyeglasses, locally?

I'd like new prescription eyeglasses, black plastic frames, REALLY big. Like, Ira Glass big. Horn-rimmed great, but open to other possibilities.

Been to a few places including a Lenscrafters, and seen nothing close to the bigness I desire. I know I could buy online, but I'd rather someplace local I could try 'em on first, if possible. (If not, I'll take website recommendations too, please with sugar.)

As "Petunia" might suggest, I'm female. But man frames are fine. I have kind of a large cranium anyway.

OR, if anyone could tell me the brand/actual glasses Ira Glass is wearing - in his Wikipedia photo (in case he ever wears anything else)?

maybe I'd just order those frames online and have them filled locally. A few Google searches didn't turn up that info either.

Anyone? :)

Idea 1: look for a big-ol pair of vintage black specs and buy those, and then get lenses to fit. You won't be able to try them on first, though.

    Here's a few I found:

Idea 2: visit some antique malls (there's a few in Edmonds and Snohomish) and look for glasses there. Purchase those and get lenses to fit. If you don't feel like browsing the WHOLE mall, ask the nice person at the front and they can probably tell you exactly where in the store to look.

I actually saw some huge ones at JC Penney optical, of all places. But of course check the local stores first--Phinney Ridge Eye Care always has super cool frames. I bet they would have something or could special order something for you.

Eye Associates NW in Ballard and a few other locations carries lots of big/fun/interesting frames.

Try Eyes on Fremont. Awesome collection of glasses, and definitely plenty for those who like vintage-looking frames.
