Does anyone know of a bar or restaurant where I can wear a fancy dress?

I've got a closet full of killer dresses, my boyfriend's got suits and ties. Where can we go drink that's not douchey? We're usually dive bar types, but we clean up OK and we want to go on a date.
Spannnnk you vewy much.

    Triple Door.

Booths for four or seating against Mainstage; or the Musicquarium Lounge.
Heels + drinks + downstairs bathroom = fair warning.

I was surprised by the number of women dressed to the nines accompanied by slouchy guys (some of whom either talked loudly, played cards! or checked out their PDAs instead of their companions).

If you go, set a good example and make the other couples jealous! :-)

Knee High Stocking Company on Olive would be a fun place to go all dressed up.

My vote would be for Tavern Law up on Cap Hill, or Spur in Belltown. Brian McCracken and Dana Tough serve as chefs for both, so they both have great food, AMAZING drinks (especially at Tavern Law...make sure to ring up to the Needle and Thread parlor upstairs), and you won't look out of place dressed all fancy-like. :)

I always dress up pretty nice when I go to the Pink Door for burlesque night.Salty's, The 7 at Edgewater, and Boka Lounge are also favorites, and the latter two have killer happy hours to boot.

I have this problem too-- I love fancy/elaborate clothes and all my friends live in jeans & tees. The Lookout comes to mind as a place where a nice dress and suit would fit in, but I've only been there twice so I can't vouch for its overall doucheyness.

I think The Hideout is a good place where you can dress up or go casual and feel comfortable either way.

The bar at the new Four Seasons is pretty dressy, so is Boka in Hotel 1000. Both are downtown. Tavern Law on Capitol Hill can be pretty swanky and so can Bathtub Gin in Belltown.

If you just want to drink, Gainsbourg in Greenwood is a fun place to dress up for, but certainly not required (they have food too if you get hungry, but the great drinks are the real draw). You could also head to the bar at Poppy on Capitol Hill (or get dinner there). I tend to think you can dress up for just about anywhere though. I've been known to wear a dress to Dick's.

Downtown: the Met Grill is great for this, as are all the touristy/suburbian-night-out places like Space Needle, Salty's on Alki, Daniels', etc.
If you want to split the difference between dive bar and fancy-smantz, go to the Ivar's waterfront restaurant on Alaskan Way (not the walk up counter)
    Also, not douchey.
