For two parent gay/lesbian families, what's been your experience with domestic & foreign customs officials when traveling with your kids as a family?

My partner and I will be traveling to Canada with our three year old twins. Have not traveled with them outside the US. With most governments trying to prevent international parental kidnapping, I know that parents traveling with small children are subject to some scrutiny. Wondering what, if any, confusion on the part of government officials has arisen for those families with two moms or two dads when traveling internationally.

Canada is pretty tame, border-patrol wise as well as queer-friendly-wise.
You may OR may not get shit when travelling if the childrens' last names don't match yours. Carry a certified copy of birth certs with you at all times, in addition to passports, and you should be ok.
