Where in Seattle can I get a scone that doesn't suck?

I'm seeking a scone that isn't all dried out and won't make me choke.

I haven't found many scones in shops that are as good as the Fisher scones they always have at the state fair. Luckily, they make a mix you can buy. They are insanely easy to make yourself, and will probably save you some money.

You can buy a 6-pack of scone mix from Amazon for under $20.

Here's my awesome easy scone recipe, if you can bake. You can substitute other dried fruits. It will not suck, nor will it make you choke. Dried Fruit Cream Scones Recipe from Gourmet Magazine Serves: 12 scones Ingredients * 2 cups all-purpose flour * 1 tablespoon baking powder * 1/2 teaspoon salt * 1/4 cup sugar * 3/4 cup dried apricots, chopped * 1 1/4 cups heavy cream Glaze: * 3 tablespoons butter, melted * 2 tablespoons sugar Directions Preheat the oven to 425 degrees F. Use an ungreased baking sheet. Combine the flour, baking powder, salt, and sugar in a bowl, stirring with a fork to mix well. Add the dried apricots. Still using a fork, stir in the cream and mix until the dough holds together in a rough mass (the dough will be quite sticky). Lightly flour a board and transfer the dough to it. Knead the dough 8 or 9 times. Pat into 2 circles about 6 inches round. For the glaze, spread the butter over the top and side of the circle of dough and sprinkle the sugar on top. Cut each circle into 8 wedges and place each piece on the baking sheet, allowing about an inch between pieces. Bake for about 11 minutes, or until golden brown

If you're in the area - check out Columbia City Bakery - everything there is delicious, but I love their savory scone the most

    Specialties!!!!
They have a better texture to them, like a biscuit. I even buy the day old ones often and I am still happy with them. Plus they have incredible flavors. There are a few locations. I frequently go to the one in the Columbia tower (701 5th ave, downtown); there is also one around 3rd and Madison. I highly recommend them!

Bella Dolce in Madison Valley has excellent scones. They're not as big as your head, which I think is a major plus.

Louisa's bakery and cafe in Eastlake makes a pretty decent scone.

The Sugar Shack in Lake City Way. It's a small business owned by a woman, and their scones are light and moist and a bit biscuit-y.

I like the scones from Little Rae's bakery. http://www.littleraesbakery.com/

I know Neptune Coffee in Greenwood carries them.

On Capitol Hill, get thee to North Hill Bakery on 15th or Oddfellows (where you should definitely try the fig and fennel one). I pretty much hate scones for the dryness issue you raise, but these two places have great ones. NOW I WANT A SCONE.

The scones they sell at Sureshot in the U-district (45th & Univ) are pretty kick-ass.
