Doe Bay, of course. They have a wide variety of cabins, all the way from totally rustic to ones that have electricity and running water. The hot tub is clothing-optional, so be aware of that.

sweet! I like the look of the beach yurt.. have you used the communal kitchen before? I'm planning to cook most of the time we're there and was wondering what to expect..

No, but I don't cook. ;-) Some of the people I was with did, and I don't remember anyone complaining. They used to have a neat little cafe on site, but I've heard rumors that it is no more.

This is one of those pick-two situations. You can have cool and San Juans. You won't find cheap, San Juans and cool. It is a ridiculously expensive place. Also, you are looking for next year or the winter right? The tiny place I stay ($170/night, 1 week min) is reserved by February.

I've been to the West Beach Resort on Orcas Island, it was awesome! We stayed in one of the little cabins on the water, you can check out pics online. Orcas is cool, it has some kick ass hiking trails and a nice little downtown area w/funky little shops and taverns. Loved it, cant wait to go back!
