Best mushroom-free beef stroganoff recipe?

My husband has been craving beef stroganoff lately, but he hates mushrooms and I won't let him make the Hamburger Helper kind. Anyone know a good, full-fat, mushroom-free version I could try? Thanks!

    If you won't let him make the version made with overcooked hamburger and cream of mushroom soup, there is a place saved for you in Heaven. That crap had me thinking that I hated beef stroganoff until I tried making it from scratch.

    You can eliminate the mushrooms easily (so long as you don't use the aforementioned cream of mushroom soup in the recipe). I prefer to slow-cook the beef with some onion until it's mostly falling apart, then add the sour cream until it's a sauce and simmer down a bit. Serve over egg noodles.

    If you don't want to slow-cook, make sure you're using tender beef and cut into thin strips. Also, brown the onions before adding the beef.

    Gosh, Griffin, the original Stroganoff didn't even include mushrooms, so there should be quite a few recipes out there for you. Here's Rachael Ray's sans champignons:
