How easy will it be to take a trip to seattle?

I'm moving to the Chimacum area on the olympic peninsula at the beginning of september. I'm really excited to have Seattle so close, and I was curious how long it will take to get to seattle and if it would be realistic to say, plan a day trip to the city with the intention of being back home that night.

Chimacum is on the Olympic Peninsula, but it is on the eastern side near Port Townsend. If it were on the western side - on the Pacific Ocean side, I would say that it would be a weekend (two or three day) trip, but you'll be about 15-20 miles from the Kingston-Edmonds ferry (the crossing is about 30 minutes and the wait for one can be anywhere from 0-2 hours - check the schedule), and Edmonds is about 30-45 minutes north of Seattle. There are people who take that ferry every day and work in downtown Seattle, so yes, if you have a car and you get an early start, a day trip is quite possible. People do it all the time.

With or without a car? You can do it either way, but it's faster with a car. Jefferson Transit can definitely get you into the city and back home the same day.

One of my brothers used to live in Quilcene, so we got pretty familiar with the trip.

    Hi Zachariah!
Good for you to move to such a beautiful location in our state! It will take you about 55 minutes to access the Bainbridge Island Ferry and then add to that another 35 minutes crossing time.

I'd plan many day trips to Seattle from that location and such a nice way to travel - on the water!

    Have fun!
