Discarded furniture on the street - how do I make it go away?

Some idiots in my neighborhood (U-District/Ravenna) decided to dump the entire contents of their apartment out onto our street. Normally that isn't a problem in this area, since someone usually picks up the "donation" in a day or two. However, I've never seen this amount of dumped furniture. The first day, there were four dining room chairs, a futon completely made up with matching sheets and pillows (?), and three full-size couches. The chairs and the futon have since disappeared into the night (I think because the futon was staged so nicely), but the couches will never be adopted. They are covered in giant mystery stains and cigarette burns. They are disgusting, and they are taking up two parking spots on a street where there are few to spare. Short of setting them ablaze, how in the hell can I get rid of these couches?

illegal dumping hotline is 684-7587. Make sure the stuff is actually on public property or they'll tell you it's the problem of the property owner.

    Yuck.

You can report illegal dumping to the city - here's a link: http://www.seattle.gov/util/Services/Garbage/KeepSeattleClean/ReportIllegalDumping/
