How hard is it to move into a room with cats?

I'll be needing to rent a room soon, and I'm wondering if anyone has had any experiences with this. I don't know if I should bother, how much more it will cost, the risk of the two cats being hurt or lost because of other tenants, etc. Should I move in, and then bring up the issue of cats a few months down the line?

Whatever you do, don't move into a communal home and then spring the issue of cats on them later. If you're worried about what your roommates will do with the cats, you should save your money and move in to a studio on your own.

I recently moved into a room with my cat. I found many places while I was looking that were decently open to cats (or even had cats already).

Your best bet is to bring it up initially at the time of inquiry. If your cat is as important to you as mine is to me, then you don't want to risk not being able to take him/her with you.

Obviously you'll want to try and get a feel for the other roommates to make sure they aren't going to do something crazy to your cats.

I have a terrible time moving into rooms with my cats, because the little bastards insist on dashing right in front of my feet and then lying down.

    Oh. Wait. Never mind.
