What's a good cocktail to celebrate 90 years of women having the vote?

I wish I'd thought of this last week when we had the cocktail experts.

On August 26, 1920, the 19th Amendment was signed into law. At a minimum, this deserves a stiff drink. Any suggestions?

You get extra points if you can provide either real names I can look up or ingredients. We're seeing friends and I intend to try making the best-sounding drink.

    The Bra Burner!

Unfortunately, this drink either doesn't exist, or google can't find it. Sorry, I know you're looking for real drinks.

Perhaps you can make one up though? Something with a flaming top (both topical AND fun at parties!).

If there were some kind of drink associated with Susan B. Anthony, that'd be a nice touch too, although that seems highly unlikely since she was a temperance advocate.

Anyway, throw some shit in a glass, light that fucker up, and call it a bra burner!

Funny you should ask, as the suffragists were a very "dry" group who also helped put through the rather disastrous 18th Amendment.

How about French 75s? It's from the 1920s and is full of gin, lemon juice and chamapgne. Here is a good recipe:

I like mine served in a martini glass but I have seen them in collins glasses (as suggested in this recipe) and champagne flutes.

How about a top shelf Margarita using some pricey tequila, Grand Marnier and a fe nice limes?

The Mint Julep is about as stiff a drink as you can have with out doing shots, is delightful when hot and ecame particularly popular right around that time (I've read).

Of course, as the suffragists were very often the same folks who pushed hard for prohibition some "bathtub" gin martinis may be in order. Crappy gin is a nightmare, of course, so feel free to use hendricks, etc. If you do use a cheap gin you can try soaking it in some fruit first...
