The Mint Julep is about as stiff a drink as you can have with out doing shots, is delightful when hot and ecame particularly popular right around that time (I've read).

Of course, as the suffragists were very often the same folks who pushed hard for prohibition some "bathtub" gin martinis may be in order. Crappy gin is a nightmare, of course, so feel free to use hendricks, etc. If you do use a cheap gin you can try soaking it in some fruit first...
