Why cant we get rid of state liquor stores?

I hate the control in this state of liquor being sold only at certain times and places. I come from Amsterdam and there is no other place i know like backwards Washington.

Yes, the laws in Washington are not exactly the same as your home city on a different continent. How bizarre.

Perhaps, in your further travels away from home sweet Amsterdam, you will notice that there are many things which aren't just like your native municipality. Hopefully it won't completely sour you on the outside world.

On behalf of Washington, I offer an apology for our backwardness. And Microsoft. And the paucity of wooden shoes.

If there is no other place you know like this, you have traveled very little within the United States. IME, this is more common than not; some states have more restrictive policies than Washington. I've lived in some of them.

You'll be glad to know that this question is on the ballot for November.

Pretty sure this is probably a fake post by someone looking to promote the ballot initiatives.

That's funny. Coming from B.C., I consider Washington, where beer and wine are sold in grocery stores, to be a drinker's paradise.

It all depends on your perspective, I guess.

Weird that you've never encountered this before you got to Washington, since I'm fairly certain all or most all of the Scandinavian countries also have state-run liquor monopolies.
