When will the new BBC version of "Sherlock" (Holmes) come to american television?

There have been three episodes produced so far and three more ordered for next fall. It's WONDERFUL. Fans of SH are raving about it, and bootleg copies are already circulating.

That would be great! However, it's not a period piece. It's set in modern day.

Last night the program featured "inspector lewis" which is set in the "modern day" as is "inspector lindsey" and others. Only some of the programs are set in other time periods.
