Dan Savage and insult "pussy"- boring ?, but would appreciate a response

Having an argument about "pussy" with a female friend who actually runs some semi-important stuff for other women at a university, but isn't a fan of Dan Savage. I was saying I was CERTAIN that Dan has said that the use of "pussy" as any form of insult is fucked up, in that human "pussies" are strong and worthwhile, that "pussy" should mean something powerful, even if he as a gay man doesn't want them, fine if you're gay and don't want any, but it's not a cool insult, etc. Wanted to point her to a column that illustrated that, 'cause I know I MUST have read one, but Googling, just can't find it.

Could someone point me toward the column where he said something like that, ideally if/where he went on and on about it for a bit? Thanks!

I think this is what you were thinking of: http://www.thestranger.com/seattle/SavageLove?oid=3948355

But I don't think your friend will be impressed: "Pussies are powerful; they can take pummeling and spit out a brand-new human being."

In any case, I'm not sure that "pussy", when used as an insult actually has the same meaning. It might be short for "pussycat".
