Where's a good place to tan?

I haven't tanned in years. I'm really just looking to get a base tan before summer (if it ever comes). I want somewhere reasonably priced, where the employees know their stuff. I live in Greenlake (65th and Ravenna), work in Lower QA, and I don't drive. Prefer somewhere within walking distance that has good packages and I won't feel overly pressured to buy anything I don't need.

i've gone to the tropical tan on LQA in the past and really liked them. friendly (not dumb) staff and their prices are pretty average.

A friend of mine was telling me that she really likes the slow-built self-tanning lotions, for what it's worth. You can slowly build a tan without looking orange, and the good ones have the same chemical reaction with your skin as a suntan (as opposed to being a dye).

Umm, yah, are people really still tanning?
    Why?

There IS no safe place to tan.
The amount of ultraviolet light that your skin can absorb over a lifetime is finite. Use up the capacity early, when you're in your youth and you can expect to see your skin start to break down prematurely and have all sorts of skin blemishes erupt in middle age.
    BEWARE!
