Gotta cook a goat.

Sometimes, you have to cook a goat.
Anybody have suggestions for the best place in town to get goat meat and ways to cook said goat?
My plan is to braise the poor thing.

I am thinking you should check with a Halal market, where foods that are prepared under Muslim law are sold. Here's a list - there is one on MLK S just past the I90 lid that you could try:

There is also a Mexican butcher down that way on Rainier, I think. They may have goat also.

Mmmm, cabrito. But where to get there goat? Richard Conlin's back yard? I've no idea, really... Check this thread.

As far as cooking methods, it depends upon the qualities of the meat. If you get a full-grown goat, you'll probably want to minimize its gaminess. In that case, braising or stewing it would be a good idea. If you get a kid (which you should, because baby goats are as yummy as they are cute), I'd recommend either searing it and finishing it on low heat in an oven, or doing an old-fashioned pit roast.

One benefit of the pit roast: You can bury the bones in the hole, and Conlin will never find the body.
