Where does my cheese come from?

It's a lot of work to dig through web sites and make calls in search of information on how my cheese was made. I want to know how the animals are raised, what chemicals are used in making the cheese, how it is transported, how employees are involved if it's not just family involved, etc. Is there any easy way to find out?

    DeLaurenti, in the market, or Calf and Kid on Melrose in Capitol Hill, can tell you a lot about how they source their cheeses, which gets you at least halfway to finding out how they're produced.

    In the time that it took you to write this post you could have found numerous articles online detailing the cheese making process and likely answered many of your questions.

    Like Kip said, if you have concerns about where your food is coming from go to a local producer and ask your questions.

    If you have general questions take 2 minutes and scan the internets. I know reading is hard but it is sometimes worth the effort.

    Your best solution is to buy cheese from a local producer. You can ask these questions directly. Any large company like Kraft or even tillamook isn't going to be able to answer all of your questions because there are too many variables.
