wallpapering - without attaching to wall?

so i got this really cool vintage wallpaper - the apartment i live in doesn't allow painting or doing anything to the walls. so i'm trying to think of a work around.

i was thinking of pasting the wallpaper onto panels of something........

i don't want to be doing major construction......so wood seems too heavy duty. fabric seems messy (impossible?)

the wall paper is about 8.5" tall by 13" wide, and is cut in like 8 pieces (so about 2.125 ft x 3.25 ft)

just thought i'd see if any crafty types had any good ideas.

    Do you eventually want to use the wallpaper on other walls, or are you just decorating the apartment you're in?

    If you don't plan to use this paper elsewhere, go ahead and paste it to wallboard or sheetrock and place the piece wherever you want.

    If you do want to use the wallpaper as intended at another point in time, you could try using Command adhesive strips and sticking it to your apartment walls that way. They're removable and don't damage the walls, so your wallpaper scraps would be more like posters.

    You could attach the wallpaper to muslin (really, you would be attaching the muslin to the back side of the wallpaper) to create a wall hanging that could then be attached either with a removable adhesive or with tacks or brads. The fabric would help, I think, to reinforce the wallpaper so it could be removed and used again.

    If you just like the pattern in the wallpaper, consider other uses - frame it, use it as the backing on a bookshelf - something that you can take with you when you move.
