Where are the best salads south of the ship canal?

I tend to be disappointed with the salad options in restaurants. They are usually boring, over-dressed, or hard-to-eat (i.e. why the massive pieces of lettuce?). I want an awesome meal-sized salad. Where should I go?

I've had some great salads at Mexico Cantina y Cocina in Pacific Place. I know Pacific Place is probably not your idea of a great meal destination, but Mexico actually has pretty good food. It was a favorite lunch spot when I worked downtown.

Good question. Restaurant salads are terrible. Talarico's mixed greens salad is good, and pretty simple as far as garnishes and dressing.

Hell you can't even go into a grocery store and find a salad that doesn't come with meat or nasty dressing individually packed unless you are near a TJ's or PCC.

Olympia's Pizza House on 15th has 3 great HUGE good-value and tasty salads. Order a half, seriously.

Cafe Presse. Seasonal, inspiring, surprising, perfectly dressed. Not really meal-sized, but order two different ones.
