Is eating cake for breakfast bad for you?

I mean, I know it is not health food. But is it really that bad?

Consider that cake, pancakes, and waffles are made of the same things. Then consider that pancakes and waffles are covered in butter and sugar, which is what's in frosting. Or consider the frosted muffin or doughnuts, as Jim Gaffigan does here.

So, cake for breakfast once in a while isn't a bad thing. A whole poundcake everyday would be bad.

Eat sensibly the rest of the day and you'll be fine.

No, but try to offset it with some protein or you're gonna crash hard after an hour.

It is only bad for you if you eat it "for breakfast" after 11:30am.

I had a friend that went on a "eat chocolate desserts instead of lunch" for a month. He lost ten pounds and his cholesterol went down. He's a pretty active guy, ate mostly healthily the rest of the time, so I say you should try it for a month and if you can still fit into your jeans, you're probably okay.

Flour, eggs, butter, sugar. Sounds much the same as donuts, pancakes, cereal, or toast and jam to me.

None of them replace eating something with protein, though; personally, I don't do well if I load up on carbohydrates for breakfast. I need something with a bit of protein in the morning.

Put a slice of bacon on your cake and you're golden.

If eating cake for breakfast is bad, I don't wanna be good. Anyway, a small slice of cake isn't much worse for you than a bowl of the sugary junk sold as breakfast cereal.
