Are these six cats held up by this man dead? (I'm very sorry, there is a sad photo involved)

Caption aside, those cats look dead.  Even very sick cats would squirm too much to get such a clear picture, wouldn't they?  And I'm 90% sure that a cat's eyes will still reflect light even after they're dead.  It looks like fresh blood in on the fur of the second cat on the left.

He claims that he saved them (from what, he won't say).  He's also uploaded Youtube videos involving a mummified cat that was squirted with ketchup packets.

Again, I am very very sorry to ask you to verify this photo.  It's horrible.  I am going to hold my own kitty extra tight tonight.

Snopes.com is a ggod resource for seperating internet fact from fiction. Run the photo by them. Try this part of the forums:

Cats tend to go limp when you pick them up by the scruff of their necks. It is a reflex from when they were kittens.

If the cats in the photo were actually deceased their legs would be dangling straight down, and not sticking out in front of them.

If they had been dead long enough to stiffen up, their bodies would be in different positions.

Given how limp they appear, (and the fact that back in high school biology, we disected four preserved cats for a month or so, learning the muscles, vessles, bones, etc in comparitive anatomy)

Yes, I would say they are true deceased.

Given the title on the photo, and that the guy is wearing a mask, I have little doubt that the photo isn't genuine.

Death in pets and animals is part of life. I wouldn't get upset about this, except to report it to the host site (Youtube, you say?) and not give this guy anymore attention than necessary.

    Don't encourage him.

Sorry this isn't a contributive answer to your question, but this guy, whether or not those poor cats are dead or alive, is a douchebag. I mean, seriously, who holds an adult cat like that? Douchebags do.
