Why do people feel the need to bitch/criticize/judge what OTHER people do and don't eat?

Seriously, it is no one's business.

A lot of people seem threatened by ANY choices different from their own, whether in the area of food choices, sexual orientation, religion, belief in the healing powers of woo-woo, not wearing white tennis shoes with jeans, or whatever. It's as if they're insecure in their own decisions, so they need everyone around them to agree with them to validate those choices.

This is great, Kristin. It was my #2 answer for the "pet peeves" q a few days ago. (I think the only situation in which commentary on others' eating choices is appropriate is if the others have eating disorders and are endangering themselves, and private and gentle conversation is the only appropriate recourse.)

Superiority complex and/or excuse to be an asshole. It's the same with aggressive non-smokers who cough from across the street when they see you lighting up.

Agreed - it's like passive-aggressive meat eaters constantly talking up how delicious steak and chicken tastes whenever the subject of veganism pops up.

When they are crash dieting or starving themselves I feel that's okay.
