Can you cook on a dented flattop stove?

the place has one of those flattop stoves and roomie is gone for three weeks, and this afternoon, i noticed a teeny tiny dent on one of the burners. its *maybe* the size of a dime, and there is no dents or cracks on any of the other elements. I don`t know if I made the dent or if the dent was already there. so, two questions
1) Can I still use the stove if there is no damage anywhere else on the stove, other than the one burner? (I`m really hoping this is a yes)
2) should I email her or wait until she gets back to ask her if it was there before or tell her about it.

It's probably fine, but if you're concerned turn the burner on med or low and monitor it. I can't imagine why there would be a problem with the other burners. Are they cast iron burner elements? I'm trying to picture how you could dent that and not notice.
