The green house (that's not what they call it) at the end of Volunteer Park is very nice to stroll through after you have strolled through the park. It has a wide variety of rare plants that are really worth looking at even if you are not into plants.

    - Make yourself a sammich and go have lunch in the top floor of the science and math (SAM) building at Seattle Central. Great views! And SAM has clean, functional drinking fountains. Bonus.
    - Hang out at the Vivace stand in the middle of Broadway, which has outdoor seating. People-watch while consuming the best gawddamned coffee in the world.
    - Sit on top of Teletubbie Hill at Cal Anderson, smoke a joint, and pretend that you are Queen of Seattle. Note that the best way to get off of a grassy hill is ALWAYS to roll down it. No exceptions.
    - Wander around late on a Friday/Saturday night and listen to drunk people. Or get drunk before you leave the house and BE one of the drunk people. Either way, it's highly entertaining. Also, late-night drunk-n-high frisbee at Cal Anderson is not uncommon, and they'll always let you join in.
    - Volunteer Park has free music and theater stuff going on a lot during the summer.
    - Go to Sonic Boom on 15th and listen to new music.
    - Eat pho. You can get a bucket -- a fucking bucket! -- of pho for, like, $4. I prefer Than Bros for ultimate cheapness.
    - Urban photography. Post the results to the Stranger photo pool.

Capitol Hill is a pretty fun place to be poor, IMHO.

    - Grab a coffee at Victrola Cafe on 15th.
    - Stroll to Volunteer Park along 14th and admire all the beautiful houses and gardens.
    - Meander through Volunteer Park all then way until you hit 15th again.
    - Take a left and walk a little further. There's a tiny park on the right hand side with a wonderful view of Lake Union.

Cost: $3 or free if you skip the coffee.
