  1 1 Yikes, that East Bay Express thing's not pretty, is it? We're awfully lucky here in Seattle. Two things needed to make a good city blog -- good writers and good commenters. It doesn't look like they have either. The advantage of a city blog run by a local alt paper is that it's presumably written by real writers, and plenty of them, which is one of the things Slog has going for it. Local blogs often have to rely on just one or two unpaid parttimers. You could try just cruising down the list at http://www.abetteroakland.com/. At least that blog gets a few comments. They have a blogroll on the right side that might have some good ones too. You might have to "adopt" one of those and MAKE it good by powerful commenting!
