Do those non-slip pads for shoes really help?

I have a couple pairs of shoes that are impossible to walk in on slippery surfaces and i was wondering if anyone knows if those non-slip pads actually help?

Yes, they really do. I recommend taking your shoes to a cobbler/shoe repair place and having them put non-slip soles on your shoes. The stick on kind that you put on yourself will come off after a few wearings and are a complete waste of money.

I get all my leather soled shoes done with the hard rubber sole. Like e.strange I get a cobbler to do it. It helps with slipping and also extends the life of the shoe b/c they do not wear out as quickly as leather.
