Do you accept "Pike's Market" (and other variations) as an acceptable name for Pike Place Market?

Pike's Place Market
Pike's Market
Pike Market
etc.

I hear the above used from time to time and it slightly annoys me. Are these variations "wrong"?

    NO!

It is completely, 100%, absolutely wrong. I'm talking "squirrel on pig sex" wrong.

The only acceptable names are "Pike Place Market" or, simply, "The Market."

It is no more acceptable than adding an extraneous "R" to Washington. Harrumph.

What do you mean by "accept"?  What would not accepting it entail on my part? Some sort of form I have to fill our, or ritual of non-acceptance of terminology I'd have to perform? Would I stare in blankly, pretending I hadn't the slightest idea what they were talking about?

Because I would like to reject calling University Way "The Ave," or at least I want to stop accepting it.  But how?  How?

And don't say "hissy fit," either.  Undignified.

When people say "Pike's" it is like fingernails grating on a chalkboard. Simply put, it's not the name of the place. I also hate when people call St. Edward Park "St. Edward's".

I think it's entirely unacceptable. A Starbucks near my apartment (in Philadelphia, PA), always has their roast of the day on the board outside labeled Pike's Place Market Roast and makes me want to smack them.

As long as there's some combination of "Pike" and "Market," meaning I understand what the person is referring to, I couldn't care less whether they use the correct name for the place. If you know what they mean, what's the point in getting upset about it?
