Internet TV advice?

What Internet TV should I get for someone?

Google? I hear it's getting blocked by broadcasters.
Boxee? Heard it sucks.
Roku? Heard it's buggy?
Apple TV? Locked in to iTunes which is annoying.

Ideally support for Amazon would be best for rentals. Netflix is great but I don't want to lock anyone into monthly fees.

Ability to download rather than just stream would be ideal because relying on a steady fast Internet connection is a recipe for disappointment.

How's that for a challenging one. Hoping the great QLanders can come to my rescue.

I am curious to see what responses you get.

I have no first-hand knowledge but in the course of doing similar research I came upon the following list of Netflix alternatives in an angry comment on the Netflix blog after they jacked up rates last week:

    Dvdsbymail.com
    Fastpasstv.com
    Sidereel.com
    Isohunt.com
    Blockbuster subscription
    Redbox
    Graboid.com
    Xfinity streaming
    Crackle.com

Some of these are obviously subscription services but others appear to give you the option to download content.

    Good luck. Watching with interest.
