It's not in Seattle, but Sirens' portobello mushroom sandwich in Port Townsend will make your nipples shoot off like bottle-rockets and your knees turn into melted fudgicles.

    Hattie's Hat.

I have never had one anywhere else in Seattle but theirs is the best because they're Hattie's, and Hattie's is always the best.

Cafe Flora has a "French Dip" that is grilled portobello mushrooms on a roll with a mushroom jus to dip in. And if you really love those shrooms, they also have a Portobello Wellington. Both are popular menu items that they have had for years.

I second LaTona Pub. Their portobello sandwich is exquisite. I also am completely in love with the messy, saucy BBQ mushroom sanwdich at RoRo BBQ.

Cafe Flora's "French Dip." The onions, the bread, the cheese (you can get it vegan w/o the cheese) and the "dip," which is actually mushroom and tamari based. So comfy delicious on a crap Seattle day.

The Barking Lounge in NE Ballard 'hood (70th & Cleopatra PL NW)has a good portobello sammie. The atmophere is pretty family, but there are reasonable beers on tap and the waffle fries are also tasty.

I second the St. Dames recommendation; you can find 'em right by the Columbia City light rail stop on MLK. Marinated slices of shroom, roasted red peppers, caramelized onions, lots of provolone, on Columbia City Bakery bread. Great fries on the side, too.
